Engine finished

Nice New engine.

Took some time and eventually I had to get a commercial company to finish the project.

Time poor.

Glad I did.

Ian Stuart from Berco did a wondrous job.

Alloy intake manifold and rocker cover.
Rocker from IPD.
New cam designed for torque. Injected engine exhaust manifold.
As it was an auto car the throttle linkages needed some fiddling. Ditto the vacuum and other hoses.
Drives well but now of course we can hear the other things that need doing. Ie suspension.
Agh well.

wrecking a 69-70 carb 164

Well finally it's happening...!!
I'm wrecking a 69-70 carb 164. After 17 years of service the body is finally --- Stuffed -- Not rust but physical breakup and discovery that it had a big bang in the past that leaves it's alignment somewhat suspect. LHS door closures (B pillars) are different!
Pity but not worth more effort...
So the suspension and 5 speeed gearbox are being rebodied into a 1972-3 injected body. Engine will be changed too!
I'm tempted to update the injection for fun.. But lets get it going first.
The old engine may be tickled and have an injected head fitted. But well see.
The mains are a bit worn as a result of a duff oil pump drive.;
Bugger.

Bliss is a new backside!

One of the wonders of wrecking a car whose body has failed... (rust is not the cause in Oz.. just fatigue and old accident repairs all welds are letting go!!!) is the bits one can transplant to a good body.. My 145s.
Fitted new King springs, Antisway bar and Bilstine shock absorbers gave me a new 145s. Bloody thing handles.
No more snow plows. or clunks or swaying or,....
Just goes were pointed.
Bugger no more excuses fro wandering over the road.

New Front End

Well the wonders of a 37 year old car is it's rebuild able. Totally.
Decided to put a new front end off a 73 144 to the 68 145 as the old one needed a complete rebuild and the 73 had already been done then the car was scrapped.
Sounds a simple 4 bolts and one steering shaft and the brakes. Move the hubs across and..
Oh no the linkages are all different!
Bugger.
Have to use the new linkages and the old strearing box.
Now she cruises slightly nose up.. Need to get the back replaces with new busses and king springs.
Rides well.
For another 36 years.

145s ramblings

As I wait for a time to do the trip back south with the 145s Ive been fiddling and fixing. First the manifold as in the previous post. Sti...
